ArgFrame: A multi-layer, web, argument-based framework for quantitative reasoning

نویسندگان

چکیده

Multiple systems have been proposed to perform computational argumentation activities, but there is a lack of options for dealing with quantitative inferences. This multi-layer, web, argument-based framework has as tool automated reasoning numerical data. It able use boolean logic the creation if-then rules and attacking rules. In turn, these rules/arguments can be activated or not by some input data, their attacks solved (following Dung rank-based semantics), finally aggregated in different fashions order produce prediction (a number). The implemented PHP back-end. A JavaScript interface provided creating arguments, among performing case-by-case analyses.

On Demonstrating the Impact of Defeasible Reasoning in Practice via a Multi-layer Argument-based Framework

Argumentation theory (AT) is an important area of logicbased artificial intelligence, which provides the basis for computational models of defeasible reasoning. Promising results have indicated AT as a solid research area for implementing defeasible reasoning in practice. However, applications are usually ad-hoc frameworks, not incorporating all the layers and steps required in an argumentation...

Computer-Driven Persuasive Dialogue: A Multi-Layer Reasoning Framework

Human computer dialogue systems – despite being the subject of a long research – are limited to a few restricted domains and are still considered austere by their users. There is evidence that humans act differently when engaged in computer dialogue than during human to human dialogue (Shechtman & Horowitz 2003). This is because dialogue systems do not take into account aspects contributing to ...

Argument Schemes for Legal Case-based Reasoning

In this paper we use the notion of argument schemes to analyse some leading approaches to case-based reasoning in Law. We identify a set of argument schemes that can express the argument provided by such systems and draw attention to some important differences between the various approaches.

SHARE: A Web Service Based Framework for Distributed Querying and Reasoning on the Semantic Web

Here we describe the SHARE system, a web service based framework for distributed querying and reasoning on the semantic web. The main innovations of SHARE are: (1) the extension of a SPARQL query engine to perform on-demand data retrieval from web services, and (2) the extension of an OWL reasoner to test property restrictions by means of web service invocations. In addition to enabling queries...

A Bayesian Approach to Argument-Based Reasoning for Attack Estimation

The web is a source of a large amount of arguments and their acceptability statuses (e.g., votes for and against the arguments). However, relations existing between the fore-mentioned arguments are typically not available. This study investigates the utilisation of acceptability semantics to statistically estimate an attack relation between arguments wherein the acceptability statuses of argume...
